Introducing our NGO

In this page, I would like to introduce the fictional NGO we came up with during our class.

The name of our NGO is called “Plantry”. The name comes from “plant a tree”. The goal of us is to plant as many trees as possible to reduce the rise in temperature. The hold tree planting events around the world with volunteers, members and local citizens. What makes it different from other NGOs is that we will be planting food-producing trees such as fruit, nuts and berries for consumption by people living in the area. We are mainly build on donations from individuals, but we also accept partnership with companies. We are also selling merchandise through our websites. We are selling things such as tote bags made by recycled materials. We are recruiting new members through our website and social media accounts.

Why are we planting trees? According to the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Planting new trees is one of the most effective ways to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) and limit global warming. As forests grow they remove CO2 from the air through photosynthesis, working as a natural reservoir to store carbon.

One of the NGO’s we would like to work with is “one tree planted”. They are also an NGO planting trees around the world with the goal of “One tree with every dollar donated”. We would like to exchange information about areas we are working on and share our methods.

We’re all concerned about climate change, but when it looks like a problem for future generations, you ask yourself, ‘will climate change even affect me?’ No matter what you care about, climate change is already affecting our world today. While we still have time to limit the worst impact, there are many reasons why we should all care about climate change.

We are also trending the #PLANTATREE hashtag on various social medias. We ask you to mention this if you ever have a chance to plant trees. Does not matter where you plant them, it will be a huge help to let the world know.

Joining our NGO will allow you to participate in making the future for the new generation.
